We welcome your participation in one or more of the committees we offer. Homes cannot be built without a lot of "behind the scenes" preparation. Most of our committees meet once a month.

Building on Faith Committee: This is a new committee formed at the completion of the 2008-2009 Apostles Build project. This group is made up of active members of faith communities and churches from the Charleston area who seek to involve their congregation along with other faith groups with the mission of Charleston Habitat for Humanity. Faith communities and Habitat are natural partners - each seeking to serve God by serving those in need.

Construction Committee: This is our least formal committee. Our construction manager seeks contacts in the construction field for in-kind donations and low-cost bids on subcontracted work. If you have expertise in construction and feel you have services or contacts to offer, please contact Dan Jones, Construction Manager at (843) 722-7145 ext.108 or dan@charlestonhabitat.org.

Development Committee: The Development and Resource Committee is responsible for researching, developing, fundraising, and planning special events and/or programs to raise funds and seek home sponsorships for Charleston Habitat For Humanity. The committee seeks out donors of all types: church, individual, and corporate. The committee works to get the word out about upcoming events and all opportunities to give.

Family Services Committee: Members will review applications, conduct interviews and select new families into the program. Meetings regarding selection will be held twice a year. On the family support side of this committee, you will be assigned to a family and will serve as a friend, role model, tutor, and mentor. You will assist your assigned family in understanding the responsibilities of being a homeowner.

ReStore Committee: This committee will look into more effective ways of marketing donations and sales as well as all aspects of how operations at the ReStore may improve. You would volunteer at the ReStore and would also recruit additional store volunteers.

Women Build Leadership Team: We are in the process of forming a Women Build Leadership Team that not only volunteers during Women Build Week, but also helps to co-sponsor a house for a qualifying Habitat partner family! We will work together as a team to reach this goal by meeting monthly to brainstorm ideas for fund raising and events, come up with creative and unique projects to bring awareness to the community’s housing needs and the Women Build project, and of course, we will socialize and have fun!!!
