    Site: 2009 Groveland Avenue

Union Heights, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of North Charleston, dates back to the 1920’s. Union Heights is a neighborhood consisting of third and fourth generation single-family residents.

Union Heights has pressed through many years of hardship: the depression, layoffs, closure of the Navy base and shipyard. However, residents are now collaborating with local government, businesses, schools, churches and non-profit organizations to help revitalize and strengthen their community. Partnerships like the one forged with Charleston Habitat have played a very important role in Union Heights' goal to develop a stronger community.

2009 Groveland Avenue is a one story, single family home housing a native family of Charleston. Construction on this home began in November of 2005 and was completed June 14, 2006.
