Habitat provides a solid opportunity for congregations to put their faith into action. Groups of all sizes and denominations experience an excitement and a new sense of principle when partnering with Charleston Habitat for Humanity. There are many opportunities for a church to contribute and partner with Charleston Habitat including:
- Keep Charleston Habitat for Humanity in your thoughts and prayers.
- Become one of our house sponsors or consider co-sponsoring a home. Provide the funds and labor to build an entire house or a portion of a house.
- Become an Apostle Church by being 1 of 12 churches to participate in our Apostle's Build during the Fall of 2008.
- Make a financial contribution to Charleston Habitat.
- Spread the news about our projects by including information about our work in the church bulletin or newsletter.
- Volunteer for the Charleston Habitat committees
- Volunteer your time at building sites.
- Volunteer at the Outlet Store.
- Provide space for Habitat meetings.
We have a variety of ways your congregation can support our work in your ministry.
ONE SQUARE FOOT AT A TIME
It costs $54.16 per square foot for us to build a simple, decent, and affordable home using volunteer labor and donated materials. The average home size is 1,200 square feet, so we need each foot donated to allow us to partner and build a home with a family in need. For example, to sponsor an average-sized room of 10'x12' would take $6,500.
Join with your Faith or Community group to donate the cost of one or more square feet of a CHFH home.
You can even sign your name to a square foot of the sub floor during construction. Your contribution will be a part of this house in many different ways. Not to mention your donation is tax deductible.
TEAM BUILD PACKAGE Volunteer as a team to help build for a day and Sponsor a room (av. cost is $6,500 for a 10'x12' room). -
You will be featurend in our next news letter (also a great way for you to highlight your group's contribution to the community).
- It's an excellent team building opportunity - each team member will sign the subfloor of your sponsored room.
- Join our green initiative as all our homes are Earth Craft certified and Energy Star rated.
- Join the worldwide partnership to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone. For every house built by CHFH, a tithe is given for a house to be built by our international partner affiliate in La Ceiba, Honduras!
