Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program of that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. The program seeks to encourage women volunteers to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity. Women Build is not about excluding anyone, but about including women and opening new doors of opportunity.
Since Women Build's official creation in 1998, Women Build volunteers have constructed more than 1,600 homes around the world. Habitat's 2018 National Women Build will take place in 300 communities nationwide.
Decent, affordable housing is a quality of life and basic human dignity issue facing families everywhere. The Women Build program of Habitat for Humanity International has one mission to empower women to take action against poverty housing conditions.
Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children across the globe. The more people we can train to become effective volunteers, the better equipped we will be to fight poverty housing. At Charleston Habitat we are training women to do just that!
For a week in May, women will take over our construction sites to help build homes, learn construction skills and become advocates of decent, affordable housing for all. More than 17,000 women, including Lowe's Heroes volunteers, are expected to volunteer at construction sites across the country as a part of Habitat's 2018 National Women Build Week.
At Charleston Habitat for Humanity, we know that we alone cannot end poverty housing. It will take the efforts of businesses, faith groups and community leaders to provide adequate shelter. With your help, we can change the reality for future generations in our community and around the globe. All money raised will be used to support the construction of current build projects. Thank you to Lowe's for underwriting the overall Women Build program!
