What to expect when volunteering with construction

CONSTRUCTION VOLUNTEER HOURS
DAYS HOURS
WEDNESDAY - SATURDAY 8:30am - 4pm

Volunteering for construction with Charleston Habitat for Humanity is an excellent way to make a hands-on difference. A typical day on the build site gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and gain a fresh perspective on what you can do for your community.

After arriving on the build site, the construction shift will start with a brief introduction to the Habitat mission and construction site safety. Volunteers will be given the necessary tools and guided through the different projects for the day. Prior construction knowledge is unnecessary, as all tasks will be taught and demonstrated.

If you are coming for the afternoon shift for Norwood or English, please park at 1917 Token Street directly behind Norwood Street and enter through the gate.

Please be aware that there is very limited parking at the build site, so if you are volunteering for the afternoon shift, please do not arrive before noon, the morning shift will not be leaving until 11:30 a.m.

It means so much to me to be able to provide my son a home. Thank you for helping me to make it possible!

Safety is of utmost importance on the build site. While it will be discussed at the beginning of each construction shift, here are some recommended resources about construction safety: Follow the link below to view the Free Online Safety Training Course. You will need to copy the provided Access Code to login to the safety courses. We recommend the courses on Ladder Safety, Working in Hot Conditions (Hot Work), Fall Safety, Portable Power Tool Safety, and Volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity Job Site.
