Charleston Habitat for Humanity welcomes individuals and volunteer groups year-round! Regardless of prior experience and skill level, there are always ways to contribute. Volunteers can work half days or full days on dates open on the calendar.
We have two different opportunities to volunteer: at one of our home builds in the Joppa Way neighborhood of North Charleston or at our ReStore in downtown Charleston. Depending on how far along we are with the build, our construction site volunteers can expect to help with framing, laying the floor system, roofing, painting, landscaping, etc. Our standard build days are Wednesday-Saturday from 8:00am-3:30pm, with a lunch break from 11:30-12pm. We are currently building in North Charleston. PLEASE NOTE: Current railroad construction often blocks access from Taylor Street. Use Mall Drive and Lacross to get to the Joppa Way neighborhood.
ReStore volunteers can expect to organize and price donated items, provide assistance to ReStore customers, and assist in keeping the store clean and tidy. Our volunteer hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am-1:30pm and 1pm-5pm and Saturday from 8:30am-12:30pm and 12pm-4pm. All Restore volunteers are required to attend a brief orientation, which is held on Thursdays at 8:45am. The ReStore is located at 731 Meeting Street in downtown Charleston.
* If you are completing court ordered community service, you must first call our office at (843) 722-7145 for initial screening and to schedule a mandatory orientation before your volunteer hours can be scheduled. *
